Words of gratitude from the family of Fidel Ignacio

Fidel Ignacio’s family sincerely thanks the relatives and friends who helped financially and who, like us, had the hope that he could continue to live. We also thank those who prayed for him and comforted him, and those who helped us with their time or donated blood. A special thanks too to all the altruistic people who without knowing him and unselfishly offered their help. May God bless you all and give you peace, strength and joy, and may that love for your neighbor always remain in your hearts to continue helping those in need. Thank you very much.

Some good news.

Dear friends and family,

Although at the moment Fidel Ignacio is battling an infection, we have some good news: We have found a transplant center in Mexico! Thanks to a network of friends and doctors all over the world, we managed to get in touch with a specialist in Mexico who agreed to do the bone marrow transplant as soon as Ignacio’s condition allows it.

Having the procedure done in Mexico has several advantages for Fidel Ignacio and his family. First, the travel burden on Fidel Ignacio will be less as the distance is shorter; and second, it will be easier for him and his caretaker to communicate with doctors and other healthcare professionals in Spanish. Additionally, the costs of the procedure and other expenses will be half of what we expected.

There’s still a long way to go but we are grateful for the little victories.

Please consider donating /donating again to help us be ready to pay for the transplant when Fidel Ignacio gets better. It may be important to mention that, because the transplant has to be paid upfront, reaching the CHF50,000 goal is consequential. Your donations will be mainly used to cover this and other medical expenses that may come up after the procedure. However, anything that is not used for medical purposes will help pay for Fidel Ignacio and his caretaker’s living expenses as they will have to stay in Mexico a minimum of two months.

Once again, thank you very much for your help!

February 2024

At the moment, Fidel Ignacio still does not have a transplant center. His mom is looking for options in Mexico and Colombia. As for the bone marrow donors, his siblings are getting tested for compatibility. Because the lab in El Salvador has to send the samples abroad, these tests are costly. Fortunately, donations have started to arrive and have been used for these expenses.
